Small Painting in Progress: Hotel on West End Avenue

I’m roughly halfway through a small painting, been working on it about an hour or so. (A good portion of that time was spent mixing up the right colors.) The reference is a photo of a hotel on West End in Nashville (I have no idea what the name of it is, but I know it’s above the Outback restaurant. My wife and I used to eat there a lot when we were dating.) I’ve realized a lot of my small paintings are pretty “cold,” since the palette is dominated by cobalt and raw umber. So I want to warm things up a little with this one. Why not? Spring is here, and it’s warming up out there.
